My name is Kayla -

I am a 28 year old Autistic woman of color just living her best life on the gulf coast of Florida (USA). A single mom of two young boys working a full time job in addition to doing my beading :)

I started working with beads, wire wrapping, and soldering in November of 2023; I am self-taught. I started by watching YouTube videos on how to wire wrap, how to make chain dresses, how to solder, and how to make bracelets. I combined that knowledge and started trying to figure out how to make beaded tops!

It's turned out to be such a huge joy and passion for me. Previously (and still currently tbh) my passion was/is playing Sims 4.

I am very much a homebody because masking to be social and be in public spaces is so exhausting and constantly leads to autistic burnout. Creating beaded tops gives me that semblance of serenity in my head I've always been seeking. Anything to dull the noises whether internal/external and prevent overstimulation is such a win for me.

You might be wondering about why I chose Avoir for the name of my brand and there is a two-part answer:
First, I have been learning French for the last 2 years. I think it is an incredibly beautiful language and I hope to one day be brave and visit France.
Second, the phrase "to have love" (Avoir de l'amour) is important to me because I have had a failed marriage and still think that one day I can find love, but for now I find the love in creating beautiful works of art for you angels to wear :)
